What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy consists of an assessment where you will be asked questions regarding the nature of injury, current symptoms, medical history, occupational and sporting background. A physical examination will follow so you may be asked to remove clothing so the injury can be accurately assessed. Please wear suitable clothing to your appointment. Loose clothing is beneficial and for lower back/lower limb injuries please bring shorts. Following assessment a diagnosis will be reached and treatment will commmence. Shared goals will be discussed to aid the rehabilitation process and improve outcome. At each session you will be re-assessed to monitor improvements. This ensures the correct treatment methods are prescribed. Upon discharge it is expected you will adopt a self-management approach to reduce the risk of further re-injury.
