What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a patient-centred practice that helps to restore movement and function when an individual is affected by an injury, disability or illness.  We work hard to help decrease pain, increase range of movement and improve muscle strength and function.  Assessment and treatments are tailored to you and there is not a “one size fits all”.

Your physiotherapist will have a chat with you to get a better idea of you, your injury and how it occurred.  We will also ask questions about your occupation, physical activity, and previous health related issues to help guide a treatment plan that is specific to your needs and goals.  This is an important part of the overall assessment.

Your physiotherapist will also carry out a physical assessment to get an idea of your range of movement and strength as well as feeling how muscles and joints are moving and working.

After your physiotherapist has completed a well-rounded assessment, you can expect treatment that is specific to what they have found.  These may include:

  • Soft tissue release
  • Mobilisation
  • Electrotherapy
  • Exercise Prescription
  • Advice and education

Why should I come to Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy treatment and exercises are specific to you and help to prevent reoccurring injuries.

Are experiencing pain, tension, muscle tightness or anything in between as a result of injury? If so, then Physiotherapy is suitable for you.
