Pilates has been proven to help strengthen your inner core and reduce the likelihood of injury and lower back pain. Our Pilates classes are small and led by a qualified Chartered Physiotherapist who will ensure the exercises are tailored to your level of ability. Classes are booked in advance and based on a 6 week or 12 week block. All clients will be assessed before and after to analyse the improvements made. Our classes are led by Kate, Jennifer and Diane who are all certified APPI Teachers.
Hatha Yoga classes are available here at Physioflexx and are led by our Senior Physiotherapist Diane Chalmers who is a fully certified 200hr Hatha Raja teacher.
The most common question we get asked is what is the difference between yoga and Pilates?
Pilates and yoga are very similar in many ways. They are both low impact mind-body practises which encourage you to work closely with the breath.Generally speaking, Pilates focuses on physical conditioning, using resistance and equipment to build up strength. Whilst yoga does build up strength and endurance by using the bodies’ own weight as a form of resistance, strength is not the main focus. Yoga specifically addresses flexibility and joint range of movement.
How do Pilates and Yoga classes differ?
Pilates classes are generally more structured. Yoga classes tend to be more flexible, with thousands of possible pose variations and the potential added element of meditation.

The return of some of our face to face classes will be effective from Monday 12th July 2021 and Covid safety measures remain in place, due to Covid-19 restrictions our classes are limited to a maximum of 6 attendees. Online classes will continue to be available for those that wish to join Pilates or Yoga remotely.
